Pre-surgical brain health assessment
A stress test
for your brain
Surgery and anesthesia put real pressure on your neurologic system. The NSRI measures your brain health before you go in - and tracks your recovery on the other side.
Why measure neurologic reserve?
Surgical outcomes are not random. Your brain health before surgery influences how well - and how quickly - you recover. Now you can measure it.
Know your baseline
Your NSRI score maps 5 domains of neurologic health: cardiometabolic, medication burden, sleep, lifestyle, and brain reserve. Not a number - a picture.
Track your recovery
Scheduled check-ins at Day 7, Day 30, 3 and 6 months show how you are recovering compared with your own baseline. Changes surface early, when they can still be acted on.
Inform your care team
Every assessment produces a structured report your surgeon and anesthesiologist can actually use. No more blank space where your brain health data should be.
Your complete brain health journey
From a single pre-surgical assessment to a full six-month recovery arc - all in one place.
Before surgery
NSRI Assessment
Complete your Neurologic Stress & Recovery Index. Takes 15-20 minutes. You receive your brain health score and domain breakdown immediately.
Also before surgery
PSNRI baseline
A 5-minute snapshot of how your thinking, memory, sleep, and energy are right now. This is your personal starting point; every check-in after surgery is compared with it.
Surgery day
Your surgery
Your care team has your baseline brain health data. No surprises. Just better preparation.
Day 7 after surgery
First recovery check-in
A short check-in on how your thinking, memory, sleep, and energy feel in the first week, compared with your own answers before surgery.
Day 30
Second check-in
The one-month mark. Early changes often settle by now; this check-in shows whether they have.
3 months
Third check-in
Mid-recovery. Your trajectory against your own baseline is now visible across three check-ins.
6 months
Fourth check-in
The end of the scheduled series, with an optional 12-month check-in for the full picture.
For your provider
Journey Report
A complete longitudinal report - your NSRI plus every recovery check-in - ready to share with your surgical and anesthesia team.
Developed by a clinician, for patients
Meet Sandra Bargeron, PA-C, CAA
Sande is a certified anesthesia assistant with over two decades of experience in surgical care. She developed the NSRI because she saw, again and again, that patients and their teams were going into surgery without a clear picture of neurologic readiness.
The NSRI and PSNRI are the result of years of clinical observation, literature review, and refinement in real surgical settings. They are not diagnostic - they are a structured, evidence-informed look at the factors associated with resilience.
